Recipe for baked plaice fillets. Plaice is available fresh or frozen and can be bought whole or as fillets. 4 very fresh plaice or sole on the bone 2 to 4 ounces butter 4 teaspoons mixed finely chopped fresh parsley chives fennel and thyme leaves salt and freshly ground pepper. Flip the fillets after 2 minutes and fry the other side for an additional 2 minutes or until coloured lightly on both sides. The skin on the bottom fillet will be white. Season and roast for 20 25 mins. Cut 4 lemon slices from the remaining half and sit two on each fillet.
Heat oven to 200c 180c fan gas 6. A green salad with a lemony dressing would be a good accompaniment. Plaice cooks very quickly fillets should only need a total cooking time of 4 5 minutes whether grilled fried or. Transfer to 2 serving plates.
